Tournament Format and Groups
The tournament will be played as a seven (7)-round Swiss-system event and will be divided into four independent Groups.

Players born after 1/1/2015.
Time Control
Time Control
Ninety (90) minutes for the entire game, with an increment of thirty (30) seconds per move from move one.
Forfeit Time
A player arriving thirty (30) minutes or more after the scheduled start of the round loses the game by forfeit.

Participation Limit
Maximum number of participants.
For special cases and foreign players, in-person confirmation at the playing venue is permitted on Thursday, 11 March 2027, from 10:00 to 14:00, only by prior arrangement with the organizers.

Prize Award Rules
One Cash Prize
Cash prizes are not cumulative. Each player receives the highest cash prize for which they are eligible.
Special Categories
If the winner of a special category has already won a higher cash prize, the special cash prize is awarded to the next eligible player in that category.
Minimum Participation
At least three (3) eligible players must participate in the relevant category for a special prize to be awarded.
Modern Chess Vouchers
Vouchers are subject to the terms of use and validity period set by Modern Chess.
Pairings, Round Exemptions and Byes
- The pairing for Round 1 will be made on Thursday, 11 March 2027 at 15:30 and published on Chess-Results.
- Players who have not finalized their participation in time will enter the tournament from Round 2.
- A request to sit out a subsequent round must be submitted no later than ten (10) minutes after the end of the player’s last game.
- A half-point (½) bye may be granted up to and including Round 3. From Round 4 onward, byes carry no points.
- A Round 1 bye is granted only to players who have paid the entry fee in advance.
- An unjustified absence without notice results in immediate exclusion from the tournament.
- Postponements of games and changes to the scheduled start time are not permitted.
- A player who loses a game by forfeit without notice may be excluded from the next Vardaris event.
Fair Play and Anti-Cheating
The organizers reserve the right to inspect participants for the prevention and detection of electronic assistance, in accordance with the applicable FIDE Fair Play and Anti-Cheating regulations.
The use of mobile phones, smartwatches and any unauthorized electronic device in the playing area is prohibited, unless otherwise provided by the instructions of the Chief Arbiter.
Appeals
Before the start of Round 1, a five-member Appeals Committee will be announced, consisting of three regular and two substitute members.
Appeals may be submitted in writing no later than thirty (30) minutes after the end of the game, together with payment of a €60 appeal fee.
The Appeals Committee must decide before the pairing of the next round. If the appeal is accepted, the fee is refunded; otherwise it is forfeited to the organizers.

Final Provisions
For any matter not expressly covered by these regulations, the applicable FIDE Regulations and the decisions of the Organizing Committee and the Board of Directors of Chess Club SACH Thessaloniki shall apply.
The organizers reserve the right to make necessary changes for organizational reasons, with timely notice to participants through the official website.
